My mom enjoyed the changing seasons and celebrated the unique experiences that each one brought, so I wrote 4 interludes representing each season to mix throughout the album. For Summer Smiling I imagined a flock of chickens scratching in the dirt in the summer heat. I went for a bluegrass arrangement because it seemed the most fitting for that vision and serves as a lead-in to the next track.
